My son and I have been so excited with the Spring weather that we’ve been (luckily) receiving lately, and we’re also lucky to live close to a park. One of my favorite things that my son has been able to learn has been sign language, so this new weather brings a new aspect – we can travel to the park and practice our park signs!
We were able to try a product from Baby Signs – the DVD Park Fun Pack! This package comes with a fun DVD, a picture book and 6 baby-sized flash cards with the park signs on them. The babies and kiddos that demonstrate the signs are adorable, and the signs are easy enough for my little one to perform, even though he only does them sometimes. The DVD is one of my favorite pieces of this package, because it’s something that brings my husband into signing as well.
I was first exposed to sign language because my grandmother had deaf friends who she signed with, but my husband really hasn’t ever met anyone (aside from my grandmother) who signs. Since he hasn’t really been exposed to it, we’ve been using the products from Baby Signs to help him ease into it. I promised to teach him any languages that I taught our son, so he has to learn sign language too. The DVD definitely helps him to bring him into it easily – he already loves to watch TV, and it’s a way that he bonds with our son because they are learning it together.
In conjunction with the Signs at a Glance Flip Guide that I reviewed previously, this really helps my husband learn the signs with our son. We’re almost ready to move on to potty training (still working on “more” and “all done”, so be sure to tune back in for a review of the Baby Signs Potty Training program!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of these materials from the Baby Signs company for the purpose of reviewing the items. I received no additional compensation for writing this review.
