Last night I was not on the good side of the canning world. Beginning with a broken jar that sliced my hand and ending with the pressure canner finally turned off at 11:30, my canning experience last night was not tops. I do, however, have 6 quarts of refried beans that will last us at least a couple of months. With the way my family eats refried beans, I’m hoping in a way that they aren’t that good so that they will last maybe a few months. But it is super awesome to have a husband and son who think I am an awesome cook.
The trouble started mundanely enough – I was washing out my jars and failed to notice that one had a broken edge. And while the cut looks very small on my hand now, it didn’t look that way at all yesterday when blood was trailing down my arm. Cute, right? And then I put too much water in the pressure canner. And then I waited too long to call my mom and ask for her help in my canmergency. In the end, though, she walked me through being a bone head and the jars are all sealed nicely and waiting to be consumed. And I will beat my husband and son away from them until I’m ready to even consider canning refried beans again, which will definitely not be during a hot month. At least I think not. Unless they already opened one and loved it, in which case I will make them more because I love making what they like.
Being as I was up so very late, I did not work out this morning. I am lame, I know. I worked out well yesterday and I can tell because my abs are burning nicely with the use. I enjoy that burn. I used to hate it, be so freaked out about it and run away from exercise screaming. Now I find I like it. Especially when I stretch. I went from being a no-exercise weirdo to considering myself a wanna-be athelete. And that is all thanks to Chalene Johnson. ChaLean Extreme rocks my world, and I want more of her workout programs.
Speaking of workouts, signing on to #mamavation on twitter has given me so much, including awesome new friends, awesome new tools and fantastic recommendations for workout gear. Like the Gruve. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I want this awesome little device. I am drooling over it! I’ve also signed up on My Fitness Pal, which is another super cool tool that I found through #mamavation. I love this group of ladies, and that’s no joke! My new favorite friend is fellow dog lover, Indiana resident and #mamavation Sista @angelasue79 on Twitter or find her blog here.
Moving on from #mamavation, I’ve made a decision. In addition to writing the next great American novel, losing weight and becoming a fit, healthy mama, I have also decided that I want to be a Brand Ambassador. At this point, I don’t really have any brands in mind, but I love seeing the moms who are Brand Ambassadors – like the Walmart Moms or the Medela Mavens or even the TP Girls with White Cloud. I also think it’s awesome how the mom blogger community interacts and conferences, like BlogHer. I may also make a goal to go to BlogHer 11, but that’s highly dependant on my husband’s work – and I hope he’s got a lot of it this time next year. Now that I’ve made my decision, I suppose I ought to try to figure out how it works. Hmm….
