When I think about my family, food is always one of the first items that comes to mind. No matter why we are gathered, we always have some stellar food to share together, and everyone has that one special recipe that stands out. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month than participating in the recipe and essay contest from Smucker’s.
This is the fourth year of the Spreading Smucker’s Traditions Recipe and Essay contest. You can enter now until November 16th with your recipe – featuring at least 1/4 cup of Smucker’s jams, jellies, preserves or fruit butters. Along with your awesome recipe, you’ll also need to include an essay that is 200 words or less, in English or Spanish, detailing how the recipe is part of family traditions and how it makes family celebrations special.
In March 2012, five finalists will be flown to New York City for a live recipe demonstration and judging. The winner will receive $20,000 toward a dream family reunion! With that kind of money, our family could all go down to San Antonio to see the rest of our relatives. I dream of the next time we can make that journey – the best food, weather and friends are there…
What are you doing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month this year?
