Did you know that 1 in 3 Latinas will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during her lifetime? When that figure came across my desk via email, I was shocked. 59,200 Latinas will have been diagnosed with cancer through the year 2012. Wow. Were you one of them? Was one of these women a member of your family or a friend? If you or someone you know is a Latina with cancer, I highly recommend that you check out this new virtual online workshop.
Lourdes Stephen, (you know, the host of Sal y Pimienta on Univision) is partnering with Look Good Feel Better to create an online Spanish-language workshop where beauty experts will offer tips and advice tailored to Latinas for dealing with the effects of cancer treatment, like hair loss, skin changes, complexion changes, and nail changes. Look Good Feel Better offers free community based group workshops and education resources to help cancer patients. More than 14,000 volunteers nationwide hold workshops in more than 3,000 locations nationwide – but this one is special because it’s online with Lourdes Stephen. The program is made possible through a collaboration of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the Professional Beauty Association.
