I’ve been holding out on you, dear reader. You see, for a couple of weeks now, I had a secret. I just wanted to make sure that it was for sure for sure before I spilled the beans. But I also want to share the journey with you, because I think it’s a really fun and educational process. So here goes…
We’re building a new home!
We’re working with Homestead Acres, a family owned construction company from Corunna, Indiana, to build a home in a local subdivision! I am beyond excited! It took us quite a while to decide what we wanted in a house, and even longer to decide where we wanted to live – in town or in the country, so this has been a long, sort of painful decision.
Now I have heaps of other decisions to make! We’ve already selected our finishes, so we know the colors in the house, and we found a gorgeous light down at the Fort Wayne ReStore (if you’ve not heard of ReStore before, they sell new and used construction and DIY house/garden type stuff to the public, with proceeds going to the Habitat for Humanity mission). More on that coming soon, but I’ll be sharing my kitchen/dining room plans with you then.
I wanted to share a picture of our floor plan with you, but it didn’t come out very well. So instead I’m just going to show you a picture of our lot. And I apologize to all my new neighbors – if you’re wondering who was driving by really slowly and taking pictures, that’s totally me… So here you go, here’s where my new house will be:
