For a while now, I’ve known that I needed to make some changes to my blog – I needed to move away from Feedburner and start using MailChimp for my RSS feeds so that I can develop real newsletters in addition to just providing my subscribers with my recent posts. I knew that I needed to add my social media links at the top of my site (I had just a few, I needed to add the others), clean up my sidebars and get rid of widgets that were unnecessary. I needed to do umpteen little things that really aren’t too intensive, but need a certain amount of being focused and staying on task.
Today I finally buckled down and took advantage of the fact that both my kids were asleep to make those changes.
If you’re an email subscriber to my newsletter, it will look different! Instead of receiving an email every time I post, you’ll also be receiving a weekly post instead. I’m going to be adding news and extra information to my newsletters as they’re going out, but the first one you’ll see tomorrow (hey – you might be reading it now!), and it’s going to be fairly normal. But after that – boy howdy, it’s on. I’m really excited about the creative opportunities!
So I think I’m moving in a good direction, I’m completing the little tasks that will help me to be a better blogger and to be a more organized blogger, which for me is very important. I hope you like the changes, but I would love to hear your feedback either way!
