7 Best Features of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD
Click here for my awesome post where I gush for a while about how awesome the camera is and why I love it. I was actually going to write this post first, but the camera section was so long I had to break it out into its own post. I love it that much!
- Emergency Alert System
When there was a tornado warning in my area recently, I didn’t have to wait for the county tornado sirens to go off because my cell phone alerted me faster. Knowing that the alerts will come through my phone definitely help me to breathe a little easier, especially when I’m alone with my kids at home. I also like that you can set it to send you AMBER alerts when they are in the area.
- Super fast speed
Fast speed even out in the boonies?! I do not live in an area that is known for its large population, which is a fact that I adore on most days and occasions. However, when it comes to technology, it sometimes means that we’re the last to get new features or that product don’t always work the same. Luckily for me, the speed on my phone is amazing, even when not connected to my wireless network!
- Amazing battery life
I don’t have to have it constantly plugged in to the charger to be able to use it. And when I do use it, even if the battery is running low it can still do the job. I mowed my neighbor’s lawn when she was recovering from a surgery and when I started it had the low battery warning. It still managed to play me music the whole way through her lawn! Having a smart phone only goes so far for you when you have to be tethered to a charger, so I’m really glad that the Droid RAZR HD lets me take my mobile productivity on the move.
- Corning® Gorilla™ glass, DuPont™ KEVLAR® fiber, and water-repellant nanocoating
During my trip to Chicago, we had a demonstration of the phone and they showed us how a drop of water will just glide right off the phone. Now I didn’t go rush off and TRY to replicate the experiment, but with a klutzy mother and two wild children, things happen. I also like to listen to music when I’m washing dishes, so it’s nice to know that I can set it nearby and even if I get a little wild in the dishwater, my phone will still be safe. Also, knowing that the phone is encased with the Kevlar fiber and Gorilla glass, I feel confident that I probably won’t damage it with my klutziness…
- Smart Actions
This is another one of the features that was demonstrated for us when we were in Chicago. You can set up automatic Smart Actions that pop on when the conditions you set are met – for instances, you can set it to raise the ringer volume and announce caller names when you’re at home. So when your phone is located at your home address, it will automatically make that change for you! Another preset Smart Action that I like is the Drive option. This is one that you turn on manually when you’re getting in the car to drive. You can have it not ring and automatically text anyone who calls or texts you to let them know that you’re driving and will call back when you can. It’s great for removing temptation and helping you stay distraction free while driving! And the options to set up Smart Actions seem pretty endless – I’ve not yet found one that I’ve tried to set up but couldn’t get to work.
- Google Account Integration
I was so shocked the first time I realized the full integration of my Google account on my phone. My brother had sent me an email with his travel itinerary for a trip he took to Texas. My phone started telling me when the plane would arrive – and that was before I even saw his email! I also love that when I’m on my computer Googling something like a local store I want to visit, my phone will add a Google Card that tells me how long it will take to get to that address, what the traffic is like on the way there, and gives me an option to quickly turn on navigation to it. And did I mention that I can do voice searches from it too? I can add reminders, see the birthdays of my friends, find the weather, my recent searches – all right on my phone!
And hey – this isn’t a feature of the phone, but it’s a bonus I use and love. With the new Google+ Hangouts app, I can start or join Google+ Hangouts from my phone! I absolutely love that. As the producer of Mamavation TV, I’m often using hangouts to chat with our experts, help people learn how to use Hangouts, and run tech tests. I love it!
