reasons why the camera on the droid razr hd from verizon is awesome

It’s been a little over 2 months since I started using my Droid RAZR HD, so I thought I would give you an update on the very best features that I’ve found with it. I originally was going to make this a single post with several features, but when I was prepping my post I realized it was sort of taking off in a different direction. So today, I’m going to share with you my reasons that I love the camera on the Motorola Droid RAZR HD.

As a mother of young children, speed is always of the essence. My children are always moving, which is awesome, but can make it difficult to take their picture. I was very happy to see that the camera on my phone was capable of keeping up with my boys:

boys run quickly, camera keeps up

This was taken on one of the lovely late spring days where we were running laps around the house, just because we could. The boys loved it, and my youngest dragged that lawn mower with him the whole way. Actually, I think this photo is after when he tried to climb UP the slide WITH the lawn mower… Not be outdone by my wild things, the camera also has done a great job capturing other animals:

my boys running with ducklings

Have you ever seen ducklings run? They’re really good at it. They’re even better when a toddler is on the prowl… No ducklings were injured in the taking of this photo, by the way. They ducked (hahaha) behind the foliage there and were safely hidden from the boys.

Catching children on the run is a very important aspect to any camera, but especially a cell phone camera. I was blown away by the quality of shots that I was able to capture. It took a while, but I eventually discovered the HD mode on the camera which really took still photos up a notch:

my son on a horse

Can you even believe that was taken on a camera?! And by me?! I was duly impressed with myself that day and began more extensive testing of the HD mode which led to discovering that it takes some pretty hilarious blooper photos too…

how many legs does a horse have?

Cute picture of my kid riding a horse, right? But… how many hooves does a horse have? NOT FIVE! hahaha this may tell you about my humor, because I found this picture completely hilarious. Later on I tried to be really spiffy with my HD mode and, knowing how motion shots look, make one extra cool… I ended up with this:

revenge of the crazy baby

I like to call this one Revenge of the Crazy Baby. Confession Time: when I was in high school, my best friend and I kept digging up animated GIFs (yes, we’re that awesome) of weird/crazy/evil looking babies. We may possibly have also recorded weird baby noises and saved them as rarely used sound effects on my roommates computer but… I digress. By the way, he was NOT upset in this picture, he was cheering for his brother who was on the playset. Speaking of animations…

I love Love LOVE that my photos are backed up to Google+. Yes, it’s not really hard to connect my phone to my computer, but do I do it? No. I go to Google+ and download my pictures from there instead… but I was also delighted to see that Google+ put together this sweet animation from the bundle of pictures I took of my son swinging. At our local mom’s group, we took a bunch of pictures at a pirate play date that turned out AMAZING as an animation, but since I don’t have permission from all the moms to post on my site, I’ll just tell you that I WISH I could show it to you! But let’s go back to the beautiful HD photos…

I love this shot. I’ve added no filters or modified it in any way, by the way. The only pictures in this whole post that are modified are the ones that Google+ put together in the GIF above. I was also really surprised that my son sat still long enough…

As a mom, I often find that I need a camera right away because the kids are just too stinking adorable or something happens that isn’t going to last for long and I need a picture. That’s where I’ve been beyond glad that my phone camera is awesome because I’ll be able to keep these pictures for memories. Like this one where the framers of my house signed the last beam:

Signature of Builders

The framers who built our house are Amish, so out of respect for their religious beliefs I didn’t take any photographs of them building the house. Some Amish are more strict about having their photos taken, some are less, but I didn’t want to infringe. So I was really excited to see that they had signed the last beam of our house when they were topping out the house. I saw it shortly before insulation went in, so I was really glad I had the phone with me to take the picture!

And last, but not least, I leave you with another picture of my adorable children. Now you can probably see why I had to break up a post about my favorite features of the Droid RAZR HD into multiple posts, right?
