I had a hitchhiker…

On the way to work this morning, I had a hitchhiker on my windshield:

This little grasshopper hopped his way on to my windshield at my in-laws’ house where I was dropping baby off and clung on for the entire 30 mile trip in to work! I haven’t checked to see if he ever did hop off yet… His front legs were able to hang on, but those two back legs were flying like flags in the breeze. It entertained me the entire way into work today.

Our little man had his 2-month well-baby checkup yesterday. He was such a good little guy through the whole exam, he even smiled at the doctor! He officially weighs 11 pounds 8 ounces now and is 23 3/4 inches long… he has gained 3 pounds and 3 1/2 inches during his 2 month 2 week journey with us so far! He is at a perfect height and weight for his age group, right in the middle – not too fat, not too lean.

Everything went well at his checkup, the doctor says he’s doing very well with his developmental skills and she just raved about how beautiful he looked and how nice his skin was… it was very heartwarming and I came to recognize the true overwhelming feeling of parental pride. Oh it’s going to be a fun ride!

He also had vaccinations. Papa and I have chosen to do the normal routine of vaccinations and baby had 5 shots and a syrup yesterday. He was an extremely mad beet. Since then, he has been very clingy and apparently very fussy, although last night when I got home I fed him and put him to bed without any problems. Everyone else was apparently frazzled, though. This morning he had a slight temperature and was not feeling the best, but some Tylenol and a touch of Mylicon helped greatly. Hopefully he’s still a peaceful baby.

In other news, IBM has officially acknowledged that they have lost my laptop. Lenovo is supposed to be calling within 48 hours to discuss the replacement.

10 Weeks

I was going to have a picture up today, but I only got as far as taking it. I actually recorded a video too, but I’m not too sure how well that will turn out. I was trying to get a photo of the elusive smile. You see, baby is very good at smiling and he is also very good at not smiling exactly when his picture is being taken.

He sure has grown. He’s into 3-6 month clothing now. I’m taking him to his 2 month doctor’s appointment tomorrow because of some confusion that happened when Papa took him 2 weeks ago. I’m not looking forward to the shots that I know will be happening, and I’m very nervous about leaving him with someone else that day. Papa is also going to be meeting with the surgeon tomorrow about his surgery.

My little baby is getting so big. I have been trying to find a sitter that we can both agree on who could watch him earlier in the day so that I can return to a first shift work, but I haven’t been able to find anyone yet. We’ll see how that goes… Maybe when Papa is off work for his surgery I’ll be able to start the switch and then we’ll have someone lined up for the rest of the time… but I’m not keeping my hopes up for now.

My laptop is still lost. Someone from IBM is supposed to be calling me tomorrow about it, we’ll see how far that goes. So far that have contacted the repair center to state that it is missing but they haven’t heard back from the repair center to see if they have it. Whatevs.
